Career Focused Learning

Graduate Right

Graduate with two Diplomas, combining a wide range of general skills with a depth of expertise in your chosen field. That cross-section of skills creates what we call ‘T-shaped’ people. It’s that combination of skills and expertise that leading design agencies and studios look for today.

The Company we Keep

To be the best, you have to learn from the best. Luckily, we’re friends with some of Australia’s top studios. We’re talking people who design for brands like Coca Cola, BMW, Virgin, Nike, Google and Red Bull. This means that everything you do, from the briefs you work on to the subjects you learn, give you the most relevant design education possible.

SYLLABUS

CLASSIC DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Start with a rock solid foundation by honing your skills in fundamental design elements like typography, drawing, design thinking and software skills.

NEW AND EMERGING PRACTICES

The design industry is notoriously fast-paced, so new ways of doing stuff is a big part of your learning. From interactive design and animation, to UX and UI, the course connects you with the digital world.

INDUSTRY READY SKILLS

Everything we do is based on what top studios and agencies are looking for in a designer. We’ll help you build a strong portfolio and show it to the right people so you hit the ground running when you graduate.

How the Double Diploma + Works

First.
Kick off your knowledge of graphic design.
Second.
Immerse yourself in a complementary field you love.
Third.
Collaborate and put everything you’ve learned into practice.

Projects

To make sure you graduate with the exact skills that top agencies and studios are crying out for, you’ll tackle real world briefs that have been designed by our industry experts. This is just one example of the many you might be challenged with during your two years at Tractor.

The Brief

Students were briefed in to create and design an overall branding strategy and promotional items for a lifestyle apparel item. This included designing a logo, style guide, packaging item, swing tag, mini brochure, A4 advertisement and point of sale display.

The Approach

Working in a studio environment, students first collaboratively interpreted and refined the brief, then created a professional research document to help guide concepts. Once research was complete, logo concept development began, followed by the design of brand promotional items.

The Outcome

Complete brief responses were then delivered as they would be to a client, incorporating professional standard 3D mockups, product shots and print ready materials. Conceptual elements and competitor research were also part of the final delivery to show a holistic approach to the brief response.
